Working with routers entails using tools at high RPMs. Always follow your router manufacturer instructions to ensure your safety. We partnered up with industry leaders to bring you quality accessories. Check them out in our store.
TOTsled router sled system works with most common router brands. It also works with the bigger routers like MAKITA RP2300 or FESTOOL OF2200.
Linear connectors slide in to the slots and can be tightened with hex key set screws.
Place your rails on level surface and center the connectors so you have two screws on each side of your rails.
Start by tightening the top slot connector, this will assure good alignment of your rails.
Recommend placement of connectors (3 per profile):
- top slot
- outside top slot
- inside bottom slot
Dust-collection efficiency using the correct length of sealing brushes and “shop vac” with 1.25″(32mm) hose is close to 90%.
We found that the system works very well with regular “shop vac” and Cyclone separator to help contain the large volume of dust and wood chips.
When designing the router sled system we wanted the system to be precise and easy to assemble and disassemble. Using 4080 aluminium helps achieve that. We also like the endless possibilities for customization. 4080 being one of the industrial standards the number of accessories is pretty much endless.
For small cracks filled with epoxy the system works just fine.
Epoxy acts differently than wood. It has a tendency to form long spirals that can plug your dust-collection hose. Also melted epoxy can destroy your sealing brushes.
When working on bigger epoxy slabs we recommend the following:
- use lower RPM than you would use for wood materials
- use smaller depth of cut and move the sled at slower rate
- use at least 50mm vacuum hose
- protect your sealing brushes with good quality duck tape
